Secondary Reading Teacher of the Year

Amy Himes

Amy Himes is the acting assistant principal for Greco Middle School in Tampa, Florida.  She has been in education since 1974 where she began her teaching at Purchase Lines High school in Commodore.  She began as an English and general reading teacher and has been involved in reading as a teacher, adjunct professor, teacher as advisor coordinator, reading resource teacher, and assistant principal.  She even found time along the way to coach track and volleyball.  Amy was Teacher of the Year for 1997-1998 at Greco Junior High School and has earned other awards for her excellent teaching.  She has received numerous grants including "World Wise Cubs", funded by the Secondary Reading Council.

 

Congratulations to Amy Dianne Himes!  Amy will be recognized at the Secondary Reading Council breakfast at the Florida Reading Association in October of this year.
